#59. The Beaver

Director: Jodie Foster
Writer(s): Kyle Killen
Producers: Steve Golin and Keith Redmon
Distributor: Summit Entertainment.

The Gist: Walter Black (Mel Gibson) is suffering from extreme depression. As he spends most of his days sleeping or trying different methods of self therapy, his wife Meredith (Jodie Foster) hides behind work and helplessly watches him fall apart; his youngest son Henry (Riley Thomas Stewart) becomes a hermit; his oldest son Porter (Anton Yelchin) writes his classmate’s essays for cash and secretly keeps a list of similarities between him and his father to avoid a similar future; and Walter’s toy company heads toward bankruptcy.…(more)

Cast: Mel Gibson, Anton Yelchin, Jodie Foster and Jennifer Lawrence.

List Worthy Reasons…: Despite the less than convincing trailer, this hasn’t diminished my interest for the Kyle Killen’s solid, top vote-getter in 2008’s Black List (number 24 spot last year).

Release Date/Status?: Update: Heading to SXSW and opening March 23rd.
