Extramarital Excitement: Dakota Johnson & Adria Arjona Join Michael Angelo Covino’s ‘Splitsville’

Date:

Michael Angelo Covino and Kyle Marvin will continue to examine relationship woes, lows and highs with a new sophomore feature film packaged with thesps Dakota Johnson and Adria Arjona with the backing of the NEON folks. Deadline reports that Michael Angelo Covino will direct Splitsville this fall for a 2025 release. Topic Studios and Neon will produce the project along with Covino and Marvin and Emily Korteweg for their Watch This Ready label. Johnson, Ro Donnelly, and Samantha Racanelli will produce for TeaTime Pictures, with Arjona and Paul Barbeau serving as executive producers. 2019’s The Climb was an out of nowhere rare American indie film debut selected in Cannes’ Un Certain Regard section. It’s not impossible that NEON would look to position this for Cannes 2025 drop next year.

Co-written by Kyle Marvin and Michael Angelo Covino, this picks up with Ashley (Arjona) asking for a divorce, watching as the good-natured Carey (Marvin) runs to his friends, Julie (Johnson) and Paul (Covino), for support. He’s shocked to discover that the secret to their happiness is an open marriage; that is, until Carey crosses the line and throws all of their relationships into chaos.
