The Safeword Is…: Isabella Eklöf Launches DOGMA 25 with Bold BDSM Drama ‘MR. NAWASHI’

Date:

Brings out the chips, dip, chains and whips. Production has officially began on filmmaker  Isabella Eklöf‘s third feature film – which officially becomes the first item in the DOGMA 25 canon. The provocatrice filmmaker known for her breakout in the deliciously disturbing debut in the Sundance preemed Holiday (2018) and equally troubling thought-provoking San Sebastián preemed Kalak (2023), with this new feature (aiming for an autumn 2026 release – could this land on the Lido?) is simply titled MR. NAWASHI and is being called a BDSM love story. Other filmmakers who signed up for the relaunch of Dogma include May el-Toukhy, Milad Alami, Annika Berg and Jesper Just. The Cineuropa folks unveiled the news plus fun hand-drawing below (it’s an actual ceremony that the Zentropa folks started way back in ’95). In the weeks to come we’ll be looking to see which brave actors have been cast. Producers include Louise Vesth and Sisse Graum Jørgensen. In between feature Eklöf had a pair of television series stints with Industry, and the book to series adaptation of Nick Cave’s The Death of Bunny Munro – which gets launched just as production on MR. NAWASHI concludes.
