Cannes 2010’s Top 10 New Faces: Introducing Ana Girardot

Date:

#9. Ana Girardot

Among the huge line-up of young actors starring in Fabrice Gobert’s Simon Werner a disparu… (a.k.a: Lights Out) – I think that in a decade from now we’ll be more familiar with Ana Girardot. It’s not to say that her character of Letizia has more screen time or a larger importance to the multiple POV narrative, but the redhead is cast as the unattainable girl out of all girls in the high school setting for a reason. Girardot has got an interesting look that I wouldn’t cast in a Dardennes’ film, but in just about any role where a little bit more than just eye candy is required. I’m not sure if this film with a Sonic Youth beat will break out internationally, but I wouldn’t be surrpised if she lands other roles because of this film.
