If there is a subgenre that I don’t care to see Julianne Moore‘s acting chops its in the supernatural/thriller kind….more specifically, paycheck films such as The Forgotten, Freedomland and last year’s Next. Variety reports that the actress will play the title role in the same genre fair – an American film debut from the duo behind Swedish film Storm.
The 22-25 million dollar project scripted by Michael Cooney (“Identity”) is being produced by Nalafilms. Shelter follows a female forensic psychiatrist who
specializes in debunking multiple personality disorder. When she discovers that
her latest patient’s various personalities are all murder victims, she struggles
to find a logical explanation for the man’s delusion. I believe Nala picked up the project from turnaround – Intermedia had the rights to the project back in 04′.
Mans Marlind (an American Film Institute grad) and Bjorn Stein will begin filming in late March in Pittsburgh. Darlene Caamano Loquet and Emilio Diez Barroso will produce along with Mike Macari and Neal Edelstein of Macari Edelstein films. Moore can next be seen in a fantastic performance in Savage Grace and will be seen later this year in the highly-touted Blindness.
