Hubby Sam Mendes is setting up an old dancing partner for wife Kate Winslet in the book to screen adaptation of an acclaimed 1961 novel. Leonardo DiCaprio and Winslet will topline Revolutionary Road for DreamWorks Pictures.
Based on Richard Yates' novel, and scripted by Justin Haythe, this is a heart-rending and bleak tome, celebrated for its storytelling style, follows a seemingly happy suburban couple with two children in the mid-1950s who find themselves caught between their true desires and the pressure to conform — with explosive consequences.
John N. Hart, Scott Rudin, Bobby Cohen and Mendes will produce in association with BBC Films. Mendes begins lensing this summer. Haythe's first and only screenplay to date is The Clearing.
