2012 Cannes Film Festival Predictions: Juan Diego Solanas’ Upside Down

Date:

Gist: Juan Diego Solanas’ sci-fi romance’s storyline centers on a young man (Jim Sturgess) from the down-trodden version of Earth named Adam falling for a woman named Eve (Kirsten Dunst) from the paradise Earth.

Prediction: The Argentine helmer has already presented in Cannes with Nordeste (Un Certain Regard – 2005) and while Upside Down is the sort of high concept, arty, sci-fi studio film that would benefit tremendously from a festival presence, and as Warner Bros. France has no official date set for the Canada-France co-production, we could see an Out of Comp showing with On the Road’s Dunst making her big return to the fest that awarded her the Best Actress award for last year’s Von Trier film.
