2017 Sundance Film Festival Predictions: Danny Boyle’s T2: Trainspotting

Date:

Choose good health, low cholesterol, and dental insurance. Choose this sequel as the special screening at Sundance and all will be forgiven for when they programmed these two: Jupiter Ascending and Eddie the Eagle. Danny Boyle’s T2: Trainspotting will hopefully move from Edinburgh to Park City’s Egyptian theatre and essentially become a long lead preview as it launches just shortly after. Lots of cool cats from volume 1 are in the 2nd part: Ewan McGregor, Ewen Bremner, Jonny Lee Miller, Robert Carlyle, Kelly Macdonald, James Cosmo, Shirley Henderson and a Mikey Forrester aka Irvine Welsh.

Gist: 20 years after the previous film, Mark Renton (Ewan McGregor) returns to Scotland to make amends with his friends, Daniel “Spud” Murphy (Ewen Bremner) and Simon “Sick Boy” Williamson (Jonny Lee Miller), whilst avoiding the psychopathic Francis “Franco” Begbie (Robert Carlyle), who has recently been released from prison.

Production Co./Producers: Bernard Bellew, Danny Boyle, Christian Colson, Andrew Macdonald.

Prediction: Special screening and a non comp Berlin Film Festival showing before worldwide release.

U.S. Distributor: TriStar Pictures
