IFC Feels The Heartbreak for Pascal Chaumeil’s Rom Com
I've never bought Romain Duris as a romantic lead, but the French apparently don't have a problem with it as they've come out in droves to see Pascal Chaumeil's feature debut called L’Arnacoeur (a title that merges the French words for 'con artist' and heart). To be known as Heartbreaker stateside, the rom com will receive not only a NYC preem at Tribeca, but an eventual day-and-date release via IFC Films.

Among the more interesting picks in the titles mentioned above, we have scribe Rebecca Zlotowski's directing debut with the pairing of some hot French thesps in Léa Seydoux and Anaïs Demoustier, there is David Robert Mitchell's SXSW entry that gets a second life via this section and another Swedish-French production is hitting the section this year, with what appears to be an awfully unique project from Ola Simonsson & Johannes Stjärne Nilsson.
Sony Pictures Classics Part of Charles Ferguson’s ‘Inside Job’
Days after being announced as part of Cannes' Special Screening selections (mostly a mix of documentary films), now comes the press release announcement that Sony Pictures Classics have been an integral part of the production to Charles Ferguson latest documentary. Titled Inside Job, Ferguson who tackled the much-maligned U.S foreign policy in No End in Sight, takes a closer look at what brought about the financial meltdown with Matt Damon narrating.
Cannes 2010: Tree of Life Unlikely, Carlos Fighting for a Spot, Still More Titles to Come
Okay so Miral is out, Tree of Life is unlikely and Carlos is fighting to find a spot, and if we crunch the numbers (past decade stats provided by a Cannes film festival friend) it looks certain that there is still some filling up to do, not just the Main Comp, but potentially one or two more added titles might be added to the Un Certain Regard section and we should get at least four more titles joining the Out of Competition titles of Robin Hood, Stephen Frears, Oliver Stone and Woody Allen.
