Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2010: David O. Russell’s The Fighter

The rags-to-riches, come from behind boxing ring narrative has been overdone, and while nothing has come close to stealing the title away from the Jake La Motta biopic (Million Dollar Baby was crap folks), if the performances are spot on, if Russell gives this biography a different tapestry (apparently he shrunk the timeline from 30 to 3 years) then we'll gain more insight in why this originally attracted the Darren Aronofskys and the Brad Pitts).

Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2010: Jean-Luc Godard’s Socialisme

While Agatha Christie took to the locomotive, deep thinker, essay film specialist and grandfather of the French New Wave finds solace in the high seas. An ocean-liner is the lieu for what appears to more politically-driven, existentialist questions in a film that merges docu footage with actors in deliberate cue-card reading mode.

Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2010: Denis Villeneuve’s Incendies

French Canada's most talented filmmaker steps outside his bounds - adapting someone else's material and moving production outside of North America. The project which reunites Villeneuve with DP André Turpin (Un crabe dans la tête) should have a robust aesthetic, but also promises to have a more "layered" narrative than in his previous work.

Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2010: Todd Phillips’ Due Date

With The Hangover might have put more money in Todd Phillips' bank account, but I'm thinking it'll give him more creative freedom to do as he pleases - and the best Phillips is an uncensored one. Galifianakis re-teams with Phillips, and the Monaghan and Downey Jr. reunion (Kiss KIss Bang Bang) assure the best chemistry possible for what Phillips does best: the road movie.

Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2010: Im Sang-soo’s The Housemaid

You won't find many remakes on this 100 list, but take an original idea and re-configure the role assignments and you've got my approval. I've sort of lost track of the South Korean helmer since his most hyped film, 2005's The President's Last Bang, who stylistically speaking doesn't shy away from getting his actors to take up the whole frame. Jeon will absolutely shine in this role.
