Eric Lavallée is the founder, CEO, editor-in-chief, film journalist, and critic at IONCINEMA.com, established in 2000. A regular at Sundance, Cannes, and Venice, Eric holds a BFA in film studies from the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema. In 2013, he served on the narrative competition jury at the SXSW Film Festival. He was an associate producer on Mark Jackson’s "This Teacher" (2018 LA Film Festival, 2018 BFI London). He is a Golden Globes Voter, member of the ICS (International Cinephile Society), FIPRESCI and AQCC (Association québécoise des critiques de cinéma).

Arnold’s Fish Tank and Jones’ Moon Lead 2009 BIFA nominations

No surprises here with the noms for the 12th British Independent Film Awards as the overwhelming favorite Fish Tank grabbed a total of eight nominations, while a sci-fi film that looks big budget but was closer to shoestring in Duncan Jones' Moon placed second best in the noms tally with a total of seven.

IFC Finds ‘Cairo Time’ for Ruba Nadda’s Rom Drama

Don't get me wrong, I heart Patricia Clarkson and just about anything that IFC distributes, but the reason why I was nowhere close to including Ruba Nadda's romantic drama among my TIFF coverage (it won the Best Canadian Feature in Toronto) was the sentiment that this one is intended for a very specific crowd in mind: the women over 40 demo.
