I've managed to miss the film festival audience award winning doc at last year's TIFF but from what I gather, Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi's intimate look at the renowned pop singer from Senegal happens to be a testament to how one person's faith and artistic output (his Grammy winning 2004 album "Egypt") manages to be “embraced by Western audiences but ignited serious religious controversy in his homeland”.
