Cannes Video Day 5: Sean Durkin’s (Martha Marcy May Marlene)

Sean Durkin's Martha Marcy May Marlene was the first of the two back-to-back Fox Searchlight titles showing at the festival this year -- the other one, needs no mention. For the Borderline Films guys, this is a familiar spot for them as back in 2008 they premiered Antonio Campos' Afterschool in the Un Certain Regard section back in 2008, which means by all logic both Campos and Durkin would put on the producer's hat and have Josh Mond make his directorial debut ready for....2014.

It was the world premiere night in the Directors' Fortnight section for Liza Johnson and her debut feature film, Return. Starring Michel Shannon in...

2011 Cannes Critics’ Panel: Day 5 – Dardenne Bros.’ The Kid With a Bike

Who knew that a simple premise with all the usual Dardennes Bros. trimmings and trinkets could receive such a favourable critical response? The Cannes V.I.P jacket wearing Belgium duo grab fellow countrymen Cécile de France and elite club member in the Dardenne camp in Jérémie Renier to portray the duel nature of society and our responsibility towards children/those less fortunate with The Kid With a Bike.
