IFC Midnight Canoe Out Towards ‘The Catechism Cataclysm’
IFC Midnight have picked up the rights to Todd Rohal’s sophomore film - perhaps the best "titled" film presented at this year's Sundance Film Festival. The Catechism Cataclysm (a comedy with horror elements) premiered in the Park City at Midnight section and will be presented at the upcoming SXSW Film Festival.
Thirlby Takes on ‘Bullsh*t’
After adding Julianne Moore to the cast last week, its now the best looking urban girl next door cutie Olivia Thirlby who will join the Focus Features adaptation of Another Bullshit Night in Suck City: A Memoir. Currently being called Another Night, Thirlby whose most recent working slate includes The Darkest Hour, Dredd and is in pre-prod with David Michaels' M.
Film Movement Finds ‘Karen Cries on the Bus’
We knew it wouldn't be long before Film Movement made their first pick-up from this year's Berlin - and they've turned southwards once again, picking up a debut feature film from Columbia that played at the film festival's Forum section. Gabriel Rojas Vera’s Karen Cries on the Bus will be released sometime this summer.
New Distrib Rocket Releasing Has ‘Tomboy’ Features
Unbeknownst to us, there were some new players at Berlin this year in Dan Griffiths and Rubens Aranha's new label Rocket Releasing and it looks like they're into our "type" of films -- as they've made their first acquisition in Celine Sciamma's sophomore film, Tomboy - a drama that was showered with some pretty good reviews, that picked up the Berlinale's Teddy Jury Award and announces Sciamma breakout first hit wasn't a fluke.
Director Robin Wright Adds Foursome to ‘The Archivist’
In the first piece of news since The Archivist was announced late last year, Colin Firth is no longer attached but Wright has apparently managed to add her The Conspirator co-stars Kevin Kline and Tom Wilkinson along with, actresses Sally Hawkins and Anna Kendrick to what will be a robust fivesome of stars (this includes Wright in front of the camera as well).
