Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2011: Todd Solondz’s Dark Horse

We're not unconditional fans of Solondz, but we like the handpicked players and potential chemistry for this project and the fact that Solondz teamed with one of the better indie cinematographers in the business in Andrij Parekh (Blue Valentine).

Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2011: Nanni Moretti’s We Have a Pope

We've always appreciated Moretti's commentary on Italy's state, religion and politics and it'll be rather interesting to see Moretti take jabs at all three with a dramatic discourse.

Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2011: Jacob Aaron Estes’ The Details

Now in our second straight year on the Most Anticipated film list (it was #35 last year) , we'll finally get to see this great ensemble having temper tantrums in a Park City backdrop - same place that introduced us to Mean Creek. Unlike his 2004 film where a group of pre-teens' troubles fall under the realm of very adult situations, in this drama Estes looks at adults acting very child like.

Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2011: Jim Field Smith’s Butter

We're big on this top BlackList screenplay (# 3 in 2008) and think this might turn out to be a Best in Show type of movie-going experience as it is heavy on the obsessive compulsive competitive folks we sometimes find in middle America. Strong ensemble cast could make these nutty characters a joy to watch, and could pan out to translate well on film depending all on the overall tone.

Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2011: Braden King’s HERE

We've been waiting for HERE to debut for some time now (we listed it at #55 last year) and were glad to see that the film has mutated into various shapes and forms. The fest are calling this "an unlikely love story, HERE is also a cerebral, self-reflexive road movie that arrives at a fascinating intersection of forms."
