Lu Chuan’s City of Life and Death will finally receive its theatrical release and it won't be via the National Geographic folks who originally picked up the film in 2009, but never released the film due to circumstances that appeared to fall into a grey zone. Kino International have grabbed the rights and have set the pic up with a May 11th release at Film Forum.

Campos took five weeks to shoot his second film Simon Killer in Paris with prod co. Borderline Films' fetish actor Brady Corbet and the strikingly exotic looking Mati Diop, who recently made her debut in Claire Denis' 35 Shots of Rum.

First 8 Minutes: Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s Micmacs

Released earlier this week Blu-ray & DVD, Jean-Pierre Jeunet's Micmacs might be a message film perhaps more suited for younger viewers, but it contains enough dazzle, and uniquely cartoonish characters that are atypical for most filmmakers. If you're into Jeunet's visual flair -- then it be hard to not recommend this title to all audiences and this includes fans of very different Jeunet films in Delicatessen, Alien: Resurrection and Amélie.
