Top 100 Most Anticipated Foreign Films of 2022: #60. Alex Garland’s Men

Date:

Men

During these pandemic times low budget productions are perhaps the safer bet — and it was during this same upheaval where Alex Garland started to re-think the process…and purpose. Production on Men – his third feature began in March of 2021, with Jessie Buckley and Rory Kinnear to boot – we have a filmed in United Kingdom project backed by the A24 folks. After Ex Machina (2014), Annihilation (2018) and an 8 part series, Garland once again reteamed with cinematographer Rob Hardy on what appears to be a more contained piece.

Gist: This is about a young woman (Jessie Buckley) who goes on a solo vacation to the English countryside after the death of her ex-husband.

Release Date/Prediction: Maybe this goes to the Directors’ Fortnight or Un Certain Regard section in Cannes…maybe this waits until the Fall for a premiere in London.
