Jia Zhang-ke made headlines at this year’s Pingyao International Film Festival when he announced a trio of new projects and a collaboration with Momo, a popular social media dating app which sponsors PIFF and has developed a new film production arm, Momo Pictures. First up is The Best is Yet to Come, which will be the first feature of Zhang-ke’s protégé Wang Jing, who served as AD on his last three films (A Touch of Sin, Mountains May Depart and Ash is Purest White).The project will star Bai Kei (Nice to Meet You, 2018). Zhang-ke will serve as executive producer.

Gist: A group of hopeful youths move to Beijing in search of fortune in the early 2000s.

Release Date/Prediction: Production details have not been released on The Best is Yet to Come, but we’re wondering if this might be a project which pops up in Locarno 2020.
