Top 200 Most Anticipated Films for 2014: #188. Peter Bogdanovich’s Squirrel to the Nuts

Date:

Squirrel to the Nuts

Director: Peter Bogdanovich
Writer(s): Peter Bogdanovich, Louise Stratton
Producers: Noah Baumbach, Wes Anderson, George Drakoulias, Logan Levy, Holly Wiersma
U.S. Distributor: Rights Available
Cast: Jennifer Aniston, Kathryn Hahn, Lucy Punch, Owen Wilson, Will Forte, Joanna Lumley, Imogen Poots

The past decade has seen director Peter Bogdanovich mostly in front of the camera rather than behind it, his last directorial effort being 2001’s The Cat’s Meow. Needless to say, we’re always excited to see anything with his name on it, especially considering the screenplay was co-written by his ex-wife Louise Stratton (which is its own special story). A fantastic cast and a plot that sounds vaguely like a spin off of Bullets Over Broadway, this promises to be one of 2014’s comedic highlights.

Gist: A married Broadway director falls for a prostitute-turned-actress and works to help her advance her career.

Release Date: While this seemed like a prime premiere for Sundance, we’re guessing this could pop up at Tribeca or even Cannes.

Interview: Marjane Satrapi & Vincent Paronnaud – Persepolis

The thrill of meeting Marjane Satrapi reminded me of being 6 years old at Disney Land when I met the living, breathing Cinderella. Except Cinderella was an actress with a blond wig and Marjane is the real woman behind her autobiographical graphic novel, turned movie, “Persepolis”. The distinctive mole on her nose and her dark sultry eyes rose off the page and appeared in front of me, smoking and speaking with a French accent.
