2024 Sundance Film Festival Predictions: Johanna Pyykkö’s Ebba

Date:

After not shoring up at Cannes or Venice this year, we are now leaning towards the belief that Johanna Pyykkö might be considering early 2024 film festival launch a la Sundance, Rotterdam and/or Berlin. A much anticipated directorial debut, production on Ebba took place in July of 2022. The Swedish filmmaker living in Norway was a former assistant to Joachim Trier. This project was co-written along with Jørgen Færøy Flasnes.

Gist: A lonely 18-year-old finds a wounded man in the Oslo harbour. When she discovers he has amnesia, she lies and tells him they are lovers.

Production Co./Producers: Eye Eye Pictures’ Dyveke Bjørkly Graver and Andrea Berentsen Ottmar.

Prediction: World Cinema Dramatic Competition.

Sales: TBD.
