2024 Sundance Film Festival Predictions: Rose Glass’ Love Lies Bleeding

2024 Sundance Film Festival Predictions: Rose Glass’ Love Lies Bleeding

The world of bodybuilding could be showcased and explored for a second year in a row in Park City — after Magazine Dreams (which Searchlight have taken off their film release slate) we could be bench-pressing Love Lies Bleeding. The A24 folks got into the Rose Glass business with her breakout TIFF preemed Saint Maud in 2019 and they quickly lapped up a round two with the British filmmaker. We thought this romantic thriller starring Kristen Stewart, Katy O’Brian, Dave Franco, Ed Harris, Jena Malone, Anna Baryshnikov had a legit shot at a 2023 release – but the 2024 scorecard was probably a better fit. Re-teaming with her Saint Maud cinematographer Ben Fordesman, production would have taken place around June of last year in New Mexico.

Gist: Written by Rose Glass and Weronika Tofilska, this is about a romance fueled by ego, desire and the American Dream. Kristen Stewart plays a gym employee and Katy O’Brian is a bisexual body builder.

Production Co./Producers: Escape Plan Productions’ Oliver Kassman and Lobo Films’ Andrea Cornwell.

Prediction: Premieres.

U.S. Distributor/Sales: A24.
