TIFF Docs programming team announced some big guns in their line-up comprised of some high value world premieres and a sprinkling of North American preems. Following his premiere in Venice, Frederick Wiseman will bring four-hour docu Menus-Plaisirs Les Troisgros to the fest while Errol Morris will be coming from Telluride with The Pigeon Tunnel (which Apple TV+ made public just a couple of days ago – this is about the storied life and career of former British spy David Cornwell, better known as bestselling author John le Carré. A big winner in the Un Certain Regard section, Best Director (and L’Oeil d’or winner) Asmae El Moudir brings The Mother of All Lies – one of my personal faves on the Croisette. Also from Cannes, Pierre-Henri will gift us with Viva Varda! a portrait on the female filmmaker legend. And finally three world premieres to watch out for from established vets, we find Raoul Peck with Silver Dollar Road, Mountain Queen: The Summits of Lhakpa Sherpa by Lucy Walker and Roger Ross Williams with Stamped From the Beginning.
