2025 TIFF: Prime Venice Titles from Gianfranco Rosi, Lucrecia Martel & Poitras/Obenhaus Load up Docs Programme

Date:

The Toronto International Film Festival is nearing the completion of its 2025 lineup reveal—an always overwhelming endeavor, given the sheer volume of films featured. Today, we turn our attention to documentary programmer Thom Power’s selections for the TIFF Docs program, which includes just under two dozen films. Alongside documentaries scattered throughout the broader festival lineup, this year’s TIFF Docs boasts sixteen world premieres, many from Canadian filmmakers, as well as what we imagine are standout titles from the international festival circuit in Venice’s Below the Clouds by Gianfranco Rosi, Cover-Up from Laura Poitras and Mark Obenhaus, Lucrecia Martel’s Nuestra Tierra, and Raoul Peck’s Cannes-premiered Orwell: 2+2=5.
