Date:

After premiering his debut feature Oray at the Berlinale in 2019 with Oray (winner of the best first feature award), German-based filmmaker Mehmet Akif Büyükatalay returns with his sophomore feature titled Hysteria. A suspense conspiracy thriller using the meta world of cinema within cinema, this is set for a world premiere this Saturday in the Panorama programme, this movie about making movies adds a certain level of provocation – when a burned Quran is found on a film set, the shoot takes a dark turn and the crew is thrown into turmoil. Caught in the crossfire of accusations, 24-year-old intern Elif is drawn into a dangerous game of secrets and lies, finding herself at the heart of an all-absorbing conspiracy.
