More Violence: Michel Franco’s ‘Circles’ Getting Ready for Cannes 2026?

Date:

Screen have put together 75 titles (many of which will be featured in our most anticipated world cinema list coming next month) and we finally have a title (obviously no synopsis) for Michel Franco‘s next oeuvre. It would have been filmed secretly, and completely off-the-radar midway last year, the next feature is simply called Circles. AR Content’s Alexander Rodnyansky. is making this two for two – and the project is also gunning for a possible showcase in Cannes. Is Jessica Chastain on this film as well? Who knows. Was this filmed in the U.S.? Most likely. Rodnyansky worked with Franco on Dreams (which was selected for the competition section at the Berlinale last year). Here is the Screen write-up:

Circles (Mexico)
Dir. Michel Franco
The prolific Mexican filmmaker is expected to have his new feature ready by late spring. Details remain under wraps on his latest but all of Franco’s previous nine features, bar one, have premiered at A-list festivals, including Chronic and April’s Daughter at Cannes, New Order at Venice, and last year’s Dreams in Berlin competition. The director is again exploring the topic of the never-ending circle of violence that has plagued humanity throughout its history. Alexander Rodnyansky of AR Content produces and the French distributor is Metropolitan.
