Bobcat Goldthwait Going NBK on My Super Sweet 16

Date:

Currently on the press tour trying to drum up interest for a difficult indie film to market with World’s Greatest Dad, Bobcat Goldthwait has told several outlets what he fancies as his next project. ThePlaylist picked recently gave the lowdown on a musical adaptation of The Kinks’s 1976 album Schoolboys In Disgrace (read here) and on Meet the Filmmaker podcast (taped at SoHo’s Apple store) the director reveals that, I’m paraphrasing here, he might also develop a story idea about a teenage boy who goes ballistic. The comedy would see a teen who watches a show like “My Super Sweet 16”, kills the show’s obnoxious star named Amber, and then meets up with another, outcast teenage girl who thinks he is alright and together they become spree killers. Sounds like a mash up of Heathers and Natural Born Killers. In the clip below, you’ll find another person who loathes the existence of such a television artifact. We certainly can’t say that Goldthwait is making it easy on himself – you have to admire someone who sticks to his guns, and as he mentioned, he already did the selling-out phase of his career with the crappy Police Academy roles. We are already looking forward to the next Sundance film Festival that will showcase a Bobcat comedy. Here is an interview we had with him back for his first feature: Sleeping Dogs Lie.
