Brett Morgen gets some Love for Cobain doc

With three inquisitive projects lined up, doc filmmaker Brett Morgen is a busy man. When is blasted onto the scene with the picture perfect The Kid Stays in the Picture he made a name for himself and Chicago 10 (a Sundance doc that will get a 2008 theatrical release) sees the doc filmmaker merge style and substance. Now with the help of Courtney Love, Morgen is going to document a part of Kurt Cobain in a manner that will merge the many talents of the ill-fated artist.

But as Screen Daily pointed out in mid August, Morgen is extremely busy not only with the untitled Kurt Cobain documentary, but on his first fiction film with Brad Pitt's company, Plan B. The Untitled Iran-Contra Affair project will look at Oliver North – Morgen is hoping to cast George Clooney in the role.

Currently, Morgen is working on an untitled 3-D sports doc which is about the early pioneers of action sports (or as most of us call them Extreme Sports). Due to shoot all around the world this winter, the documentary will feature such figures as the surfer Kelly Slater, skateboarder Tony Hawk and BMX rider Mat Hoffman. The film will use the same 3-D technology used by James Cameron on Avatar.
