L.A. residents have the chance to practice their German with the currently in progress 2008 edition of the German Cinema in LA series running until September 29th. The Goethe-Institut Los Angeles and the American Cinematheque bring the latest films from Germany to LA at the Aero Theatre including Germany’s submission for the 2008 Academy Awards, the highly-anticipated U.S. premieres of Uli Edel’s THE BAADER-MEINHOF COMPLEX and the latest film from Academy Award winner Caroline Link, A YEAR AGO IN WINTER. There’s also screenings of hits from Berlin, Cannes and Sundance festivals that includes Doris Dörrie’s latest effort, CHERRY BLOSSOMS, Robert Thalheim’s AND ALONG COME TOURISTS and Dennis Gansel’s THE WAVE. If that’s not enough there’s the blockbuster from German star Til Schweiger’s romantic comedy RABBIT WITHOUT EARS and the animated spoof LISSI AND THE WILD EMPEROR for those who look for more entertainment.
