First Look boards Brad Anderson’s Siberian thriller

After stops at Sundance and Berlin, the Brad Anderson, Spanish-financed, filmed in Lithuania, Russia and China the thriller has finally found domestic distribution for the U.S. Variety reports that First Look Studios will defrost the picture sometime this summer. We rated this as a must see film for 2008.

Transsiberian revolves around an American couple (Harrelson and Mortimer) traveling
on the Trans-Siberian Railway from China to Moscow. When they meet
another couple (Mara and Noriega), the result is a train ride full of
deception and murder. Kingsley and Kretschmann will play Russian police
officers pursuing the couples.

Coming four years after the release of The Machinist, this is definitely Anderson’s most large scale project to date – and at best, the summer date might pull in Herzog-like Rescue Dawn type numbers –  profits that First Look desperately needs to turn the page on a difficult 2007 campaign.
