Garner Melts for Blacklist’s ‘Butter’

Date:

Jennifer Garner knows the value of a great script – Juno (a top three script on the Blacklist) gave her what most would concede was a necessary career boost. Now Garner is circling the third best ranked Blacklist script from last year in Butter (see complete ranking here) – she is attached to star and possibly produce with Michael De Luca.

Scripted by Jason Micallef (who rewriting The King of Kong screenplay for director Seth Gordon) this is set in a small town, and follows a young orphan who, after being adopted by a Midwestern family, discovers she has an uncanny talent for butter-carving. She eventually finds herself up against the ambitious wife of the retired reigning champion in a town’s annual butter-sculpting contest.

Currently Craig Gillespie (who helmed another Black List script in Lars and the Real Girl) and Gary Ross are among the directors who are interested in the project.
