Indomina Releasing Ends Mystery and Pick Up ‘Detective Dee’

Date:

IndieWIRE’s Anne Thompson certainly pleased by this bit of news. If my count is good, this is title number eight for the Indomina Releasing folks – and it may be their crown jewel in their mad streak of pick-ups. The Venice and TIFF preemed Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame has been acquired by the new genre label and they’ll want to make sure they roll the epic title quickly.

Gist: Written by Chen Kuofu and based on the book by Lin Qianyu, this is a fictional account of Di Renjie, one of the most celebrated officials of the Tang Dynasty. When the mysterious deaths of a series of loyal subjects threaten to delay the 690 A.D. inauguration of Empress Wu Zetian (Carina Lau), she summons the infamous Detective Dee (Andy Lau) back from exile into which she cast him eight years earlier.
