Less than 4 days ago, Super Bad reigned supremacy among all box office contenders – not bad for a film that was hands off for younger viewers and not bad for a director who hadn’t touched feature film for over a decade. Circa 1996, The Daytrippers was Greg Mottola’s introduction to the indie world and today the trades announced that the filmmaker will be backed by the power of three: Miramax, Sidney Kimmel and Ted Hope’s This Is That for a new project entitled Adventureland.
Written by Mottola, the story, set in the summer of 1987, concerns an uptight recent college grad who's forced to take a minimum-wage job at the local amusement park after realizing he can't afford his dream European tour. The experience helps him to loosen up a bit as he finds first love, forms new friendships and matures just in time to enter the real world in the fall.
Like Superbad’s Michael Cera and Johan Hill, the central character is a young adult – so far the very talented actor Jesse Eisenberg is attached to star. Shooting is expect to begin this fall and shooting in the tourist hot spot of the states: Pittsburgh.
