Last Minute Sundance Addition: Silent House Remake From Open Water Pair

Date:

With less than a month before the festival begins, Sundance have added what could be considered a “last minute” entry that will probably be shown in the very late stages of the festival. I’m not sure when Sundance vets and Open Water filmmaker team of Chris Kentis and Laura Lau grabbed the remake rights to the Uruguayan film La Casa Muda which premiered in Cannes last May, but seeing that the original film is a hand-held, one take set-up means that production could have taken place last month and easily prepped after one month in post. Make to mistake: the original is no small feat. If Kentis follows the same template as the original then I think audiences might dig this Silent House. Elizabeth Olsen who comes to Sundance with Sean Durkin’s Martha Marcy May Marlene, toplines the film – so be prepared to see true story horror from her POV. Here’s the trailer for the original.
