Lopez-Gallego believes in a ‘Ghost’

Last year’s talent pool included Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego, whose El rey de la montana (The King of the Hill) grabbed the spotlight at TIFF, and now it has translated into a deal that will see the helmer direct Paramount Vantage’s latest project part of a new direction for the indie label.

Time and time again, some international thriller/horror genre flick breaks out from the mold, usually makes waves on the fest circuit, and ultimately it translates into one of two things: a Hollywood remake or the filmmaker in question hooks up with an agency in Los Angeles. Last year’s talent pool included Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego, whose El rey de la montana (The King of the Hill) grabbed the spotlight at TIFF, and now it has translated into a deal that will see the helmer direct Paramount Vantage‘s latest project part of a new direction for the indie label. 

The Hollywood reporter reports that Lopez-Gallego is attached to direct A Jealous Ghost — a pic that Kirsten Dunst woudl topline. Dunst is producing along with Ben Forkner, Eric Kranzler and Daniel Rappaport of Film 360. 

Ghost is based on A.N. Wilson’s novel and scripted by Megan Holley, Wilson’s 2005 novel describes a young American woman played by Dunst, who travels to London to write a dissertation on Henry James’ classic ghost tale, “The Turn of the Screw,” only to find that her own circumstances begin to reflect the strange happenings of the story.
