Mundruczo Filming ‘Frankenstein’ in Multiple Seasons

Date:

A figure on the international film circuit but relatively still unknown outside of Europe, Kornél Mundruczó the helmer behind Johanna, Pleasant Days and most recently, the 2008 film Delta (a slow-paced, heavily dependent on natural surroundings pic that reminded me of Terrence Malick’s work) is currently in production with, The Frankenstein Plan.

The filmmaker choose Mary Shelley’s classic and came up with a contemporary narrative – so I’m really not expecting something like what Universal will plan to do with the character sometime in the next decade ahead. 19 year-old-kid Rudolf Frecska takes on the role of the monster – we can see by the pic that the common link are the bandages and what we can tell by the brief synopsis provided by the director that like the monster, this teen is seeking affection, a connection with another person. This is about a who returns home from a boarding school, struggling to receive the love and support from his family.

Filmneweurope reports that the film is being produced by Proton Cinema and longtime Mundruczó producer Viktoria Petrányi. Susanne Marian, Gábor Kovács and Ági Pataki, Gabriele Kranzelbinder and Gábor Sipos are all on board as co-producers. Filming has already started, though the majority of the filming will take place this winter.
