Searchlight Can’t Let Danny Boyle Go

It was announced last week without much fanfare (hence yesterday’s press release) that WB partnered up with Fox Searchlight Pictures on what was originally a Warner Independent Pictures pic (WIP picked up the picture exactly one year ago). Fox has been backing Danny Boyle for a long time now, most recently for back to back projects: 28 Days Later (2003), Millions (2005) and Sunshine (2007). Telluride and Toronto audiences will be the first to see the film.

Having read the screenplay, I’m thinking that this should pan out to be a crowd-pleaser: the narrative draws from parallel storyline element already familiar to all with Who Wants to Be a Millionaire segments inter-cut with a rags to riches storyline that adds ingredients like romance, humor and adventure – many characteristics to the good natured family-adventure Millions.

Here are pics featuring Boyle on location in India, and below we find newcomer actor Dev Patel — the lead character hoping to win over someone’s affection.
