#94. The Convincer

Director: Jill Sprecher
Writer(s): Jill and Karen Sprecher
Producers: Mary Frances Budig, Elizabeth Redleaf and Christine Walker

The Gist“The Convincer” follows a desperate insurance salesman in the Midwest whose scheme to get a hold of a rare violin leads to unforeseen consequences….(more)

Cast: Greg Kinnear, Alan Arkin, Billy Crudup, David Harbour, Lea Thompson, Bob Balaban

List Worthy Reasons…: The Sprecher sisters were at some point in their career referred to as the “Coen sisters” — but that nickname has more to do with geographical location and not their output, as Sprecher’s last film, a very good sophomore pic called 13 Conversations About One Thing was released about a decade back. We look forward to the not-so-obvious plot twists further complicated by strong characters which are Sprecher’s strong suit. Also worth noting, this is the screen reunion between Sprecher and Arkin.

Release Date/Status?: Will be launched in the Premieres category at Sundance with a pick-up very likely during the fest and a release date tagged for later that same year.
