Top Posters of 2010: #1. Buried

1. Buried (U.S Theatrical Poster)

Distributor: Lionsgate Films
Tagline: “Paul Conroy Isn’t Ready to Die”
Comments: And the number one poster design of the year comes to us via the Ignition Print folks with their homage to the creativeness of artists such as Saul Bass. I just love this poster. I think that in this day and age it takes balls to not rely on someone’s kisser to sell hot-cakes, and for that reason alone this makes the top tier cut. It’s definitely retro, and it’s maze like mapped design say loads on the kind of predicament that Ryan Reynolds’ character finds himself in. I love the motion, the path, the stark contrast of the black and white and it’s a definite wink to the classic Vertigo one sheet. They also made perhaps one of the greatest critic’s quotes sheets ever using the same symmetry.
