After being dropped from the possible re-start of the Hellraiser franchise with Clive Barker Presents:
Hellraiser, it appears that the Weinstein’s haven’t cut the umbilical cord off just yet. Accordingly to ShockTillYouDrop.com, French helmers Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury will indeed get their shot at Hollywood and English language filmmaking by assisting in keeping the Halloween franchise afloat.
Dimension Films are apparently offering the talented duo a chance to direct a Halloween 2 – the follow-up to Rob Zombie’s Halloween and perhaps a remake of the original sequel. The pair blasted onto the scene with Inside (À
l’intérieur) (an atmospheric Euro number that would be released domestically here on DVD at the beginning of the year), and have been pegged as the next best thing in horror – hopefully they’ll get a better chance to demonstrate style than what became of High Tension‘s Alexandre Aja’s short career since he took on Hollywood horror remakes (The Hills Have
Eyes).
