With big names like Cronenberg and Polley already announced a couple of weeks ago, it came time this morning to announced the rest of the home team for the Toronto International Film Festival. This morning, they filled in some of the gaps in the Special Presentations, Vanguard, and Real to Reel sections, and at the same time presented the full line-ups for their Canada First! and Short Cuts programmes, the former highlighting feature debuts, and the latter comprised of a whopping 43 Canadian short films running anywhere from 4 to 28 minutes long.

Before we unveil our most anticipated film of 2011, I figure we might want to emphasize some of the names that most frequently populated our Top 100 Most Anticipated Films list. Here is our version of 10 movers and shakers for 2011.

The Daisy Chain has some pretty large shoes to fill as far as evil-kid films go. Shoes that ultimately prove to be a couple of sizes too big.

It’s one of those sad years where Egoyan and Cronenberg are not in contention and where big box office receipts dedicates the Best Motion Picture category and a truly confectioned gem such as Eve and the Fire Horse gets pushed aside. Both Canadians and international audiences might have plenty to look forward to from Canadian filmmakers, but this year we have slim pickings. Here are the noms for the Canadian Oscars...
