A handful of 80's pictures including Sixteen Candles, Pretty in Pink, and American Graffiti were used for reference but the overall
'look' and 'feel' is very contemporary. Our story is universal in time and place and the aesthetics of the film do dilute that.
If I Want to Whistle, I Whistle was the big winner at the 5th edition of Gopo Awards (Romania's film industry honours) last night, winning seven awards, including Best Film, Best Director (Florin Şerban) and Best Supporting Actress (Clara Vodă).
The nominations for the 5th edition of Gopo, Romania's film industry honours, have been made publicly available during this week. As expected, Florin Şerban's first feature film, If I Want to Whistle I Whistle received the most nominations with 13, followed by Marian Crişan's debut film, Morgen, with 11 nominations, while Radu Muntean's Tuesday, after Christmas was nominated in 10 categories.
He's 35 years-old. He lived for four years in Vietnam and one year in Dubai. He likes sports; in 2007, he ran in the Dubai marathon. He graduated the Romanian National Film School. He's both: a director and a screenwriter. This is Bogdan Mustata, an almost anonymous filmmaker until he won the Golden Bear at the 2008 Berlin Int. Film Festival for his short film, A Good Day For A Swim.
