Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2011: Oren Moverman’s Rampart

Teaming with once again with dp Bobby Bukowski, and the integral acting trio of Foster, Harrelson and Steve Buscemi, I have the feeling that the ante will increase dramatically with this gut-wrenching sophomore project. The Messenger was a stellar debut.

Tracking Shot January 2011: Shame, Looper, Life of Pi and The Iron Lady

At the beginning of every month, IONCINEMA.com's "Tracking Shot" features a handful of projects that are moments away from lensing and in the same token, we feel are worth signaling out. We ring in the new year with nine titles going into production this month that are worth pointing out. Among the projects that were originally slated for January but are slightly pushed back we have Valerie Faris & Jonathan Dayton's Will starring Paul Rudd Zach Galifianakis, the new Stephen Daldry film Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close and Polanski's Carnage. This January can officially be called the "Abi Morgan" month as the scribe has not one but two projects that'll be lensed.

Sundance 2011 Park City at Midnight Section: Todd Rohal, Lucky McKee and Michael Tully Among 8 Selected

Michael Tully (Septien), Todd Rohal (The Catechism Cataclysm) and Lucky McKee (The Woman featuring Amazonian beauty Pollyanna McIntosh) are seven of the eight filmmakers who'll be premiering their latest films in a Park City at Midnight Section. On paper, this year's eight selected titles is perhaps the best since I've been going to the fest and shows that should be quick sell outs are Hobo with A Shotgun, Corman’s World: Exploits Of A Hollywood Rebel and the international preem for Troll Hunter will remind some of The Blair With Project from several years back.

Jez Butterworth to Clash with ‘London Calling’

The Clash were an integral part of the original wave of British punk, and now the 1979 album that launched their popularity overseas will be made in to a feature film of the same name: London Calling. Jez Butterworth, whose writing credits include the recent Fair Game and wrote and directed Birthday Girl almost a decade back, will pen the screenplay with the help of original Clash members Mick Jones and Paul Simonon.

Tracking Shot October 2010: 2 Days In New York, Alps, Rampart, Shanghai, I Love You

At the beginning of every month, IONCINEMA.com's "Tracking Shot" features a handful of projects that we feel are worth signaling out and that are moments away from lensing. This October we find the very last batch of titles that could be potentially ready for next May (I see a pair of films mentioned below that are possible Cannes birth qualifiers) and we find our usual mix of items: from mid-range indie budget flicks (4 million to 8 million range) to the pricey popcorn films.
