#49. Compliance

Director/Writer: Craig Zobel
Producers: Zobel, Tyler Davidson, Sophia Lin, Lisa Muskat and Theo Sena
Distributor: Rights Available

The Gist: Based on actual events, when a prank caller convinces a fast food restaurant manager to interrogate an innocent young employee, no one is left unscathed...(more)

Cast: Ann Dowd, Dreama Walker and Pat Healy

List Worthy Reasons…: Winner of the Gotham Award for Breakthrough Director, Craig Zobel has been attached to about a half dozen projects the moment 2007’s Great World of Sound became a part of the collective consciousness, and my thinking that this unfathomable true story is a culmination of going with your gut, going micro and being pro-active in the creation department rather than wait it out any further. Zobel works with DP Adam Stone (amazing resume includes works with David Gordon Green, Jeff Nichols and Zobel’s debut film) in what I’m thinking might be a modern day horror film. Pat Healy rejoins Zobel, but look for plenty of poise from Dreama Walker.

Release Date/Status?: Showing up in Park City in the NEXT section at the Sundance Film Festival, this looks like great bait for an indie distributor looking to add to their 2012 slate.
