China Lion Embraces ‘A Beautiful Life’

Date:

China Lion have picked up the rights to A Beautiful Life – a damn expensive drama romance from a director we normally associate with action/crime thrillers. With a May 20th release date already set (this includes 30 plus screens spread out in key Asian friendly markets in the U.S, this Andrew Lau directed pic stars the eternally gorgeous Shu Qi alongside Liu Ye who, plenty of North American audiences might have most recently seen in the long delayed, City of Life and Death.

Gist: Li Peiru (Shu Qi) drifts to Beijing from Hong Kong to make a living but ends up falling in love with Fang Zhendong (Liu Ye), a local policeman. Qi plays an opportunist who takes advantages of Ye for financial gain.

Worth Noting: If you live in the States, you can program Andrew Lau films in back to back months as Legend of the Fist: The Return of Chen Zhen will be released on April 22nd.
