The Gist: Based on the autobiographical spec written by Reiser, this is his personal account of his struggle to beat cancer, with the story centering on a 25-year-old who finds out he has the disease. Reiser was a producer and field producer on HBO’s “Da Ali G Show” and VH1’s “Best Week Ever.”….(more)
Cast: James McAvoy, Anna Kendrick and Seth Rogen.
Why is it on the list?: Factoring in: an upcoming and coming filmmaker in Jonathan Levine, plus three distinct leads (McAvoy, Kendrick, Rogen) and a script that cracked the top ten in last year’s Black List (24 votes) has the makings for a fine film. What I like best is the different approach to the notion of a film with the C-word in it. Should be an instant crowd-pleaser.
Release Date/Status?: Shooting begins next month and it may beat the clock before the end of this year.
