The best film I missed at Cannes, and that showed up at TIFF is Bong Joon-ho‘s marvelous fourth feature – a blend of tones that makes for a nifty thriller lead by the uncharacteristically-drawn character of a mother willing to go beyond the lengths of what is expected when protecting her son. Mother is praise-worthy on so many levels – and will hands down be Korea’s nomination for Best Foreign picture. Here’s a pic of the brains behind the mom’s madness.
