Something tells me that James Franco might get his A turned into an A+. The workaholic and full-time student who appeared Milk is spending his summer vacation doing what he usually does: grabbing acting gigs that range in size. Before heading off to Ireland for David Gordon Green’s Your Highness, Franco has boarded a small indie production which begins shooting in New York on the 15th. The student will be directed by a unknown, but not inexperienced Jay Anania (Day on Fire) – a graduate film school prof at NYU.
In Praise of Shadows tells the story of William Vincent (Franco), and recounts his eccentric and curious journey that brought him back to New York City after four years in exile to rescue the woman he loves from a crime syndicate.
Variety reports that the less than $10 million will be produced by Franco’s Rabbit Bandini Productions in association with the Final Cut Collective, Black Acre Entertainment and Limerick Films, all of which are financing.
