Sundance Journal 2009 Day 4: Scott Sanders’ Black Dynamite

Date:

It has got poor editing, poorly staged visuals, the acting is horrible and the one holding the boom mike did a horrible job — but of course that is the whole point, and it was obvious from the get-go that everyone was in on Scott Sanders‘ joke. I knew that Black Dynamite would be taken off the table, but by breakfast time? Wow! BD was my first, and I think, my only midnight screening for the duration of the festival and along with the theatre’s many patrons I was given at least 50+ reasons (at least in film’s first thirty minutes or so) to lap my knee.

After a decade of inaction, it took twenty days for Scott Sanders to make what will certainly be a profitable acquisition for Sony. Here are some pics I took, director Soctt Sanders above and below is Mr. Dynamite himself, Michael Jai White.
