Orange of the Week: Criterion Collection & Warner Home Video

Date:

 Orange of the Week IONCINEMA.com

The biggest pet peeve for gamers, music and movie collectors is when technological advancements makes “collections” obsolete. In the case of video cassettes to DVD, the trade in was welcomed one, but when two platforms HD and Blu-ray came out it reminded us of the damn Beta vs. VHS war. Everyone was glad that duel was over and done with, but now that Blu-ray has taken the reign as the leading format for home movie collections – it also means that some folks feel deep sixed once again. No one likes to receive a five finger discount, but the very cool people at Criterion announced that they’d take in regular DVDs for a Blu-upgrade (click here) and quickly following this announcement, WHV have set up the Red2Blu.com program which allows those who owned HD-DVD titles to send them in for Blu-ray at a very fair price of less than 5 bucks per title. The Orange of the Week goes to: both home video specialists for their gestures at making sure that the customer experience remains a positive one.
