2013 Cannes Film Festival Predictions: Michael Rowe’s Manto Acuifero

Date:

#14. Michael Rowe’s Manto Acuifero

Gist: Part of a trilogy of films based on solitude, this revolves around a couple who decide to divorce, affecting the emotional state of his daughter, who on her own and through various circumstances, is forced to find support elsewhere.

Prediction: Rowe’s Leap Year (Directors’ Fortnight) won the Camera d’Or in 2011 and Gael Garcia Bernal and Diego Luna’s Canana Productions have been a mainstay in Cannes since 2007 – and all indications point towards Rowe’s latest feature to crawl into the Un Certain Regard section – potentially dislodging a spot from other Mexican film auteurs.
